Hey whats up JOEY

I am really new at powder coating so any info helps tremendously. My first question for you is how and what steps do i need to take to PC a ornamental piece of metal with four different colors each separate on the the piece? thx Mike

Mike,

 

  There are a few different ways to do what you are asking.  None of them are very "easy" and will require lots of time and masking.  You can use high temperature tapes to mask three areas at a time and only coat one area.  This may be the best route if you're trying to get the different colors to be as even as possible (depth wise).  Another solution would be to use more of a conventional masking tape.  It's easier to work with.  The trick there is to (1) coat the area you wish to coat, (2) bake for 2 minutes, (3) remove from oven and CAREFULLY remove the masking tape and (4) put back into the oven for a full cure.  The two minute bake is long enough to let the powder begin to melt but no too long so the tape begins to burn.  I would practice with this on some scrap parts but you can quickly get very good at it and create all sorts of new looks on products.
