Hi all! Im new to powder coating and to this Forum, I've had my powder coat system for 6 weeks now, built my own oven out of a 6foot high double door steel office cabinate insulated with rockwool on the outside.

So now I start powder coating and so far with very good results (no doubt I'll mess up soon) coating parts off my bike, a mate has brought round some bike parts off an old BSA that he's doing up.

So far I've done his swing arm, top yoke and dog bone in chrome, handle bars and clock mount in gloss black.

So far I've not aplied any primer to the parts and they look really good, however! while outgassing his fork stanchions I noticed that there was a little filler on each one (where the front mud guard had rubbed) the filler dropped off when I took them out of the oven.  Now I've re-filled the marks with JB Weld and bunged it in the oven to finish off the outgassing, so far looking good and ready for powder coating in chrome (I know it comes out silver, dosn't matter cause he wants them silverCool)

Question is: because there's BJ Weld half way down each stanchion and it's a different colour do I apply epoxy primer or go for the one coat of chrome?

I'm not sure if the filler will show through without the primer

It shouldn't matter.  If you were spraying a color with little pigment, I might worry more, but I think you will be fine.
